After three weeks off for winter break, the kids went back to school today. It’s always a bittersweet thing. It’s nice having them around for more hours of the day, but they also like getting back to see their friends. We really wanted to get away for a few days but found it impossible with availability and pricing (prices are always higher when the kids are on break). So, we opted to enjoy our local hot spots which are always fun to any visitor, but sometimes feel like they aren’t a getaway because we live so close!
One Friday afternoon, on one of the nicest days we’ve had recently, we went to the Botanical Gardens for a picnic, a little throwing of the football, reading, and knitting!
The biggest treat we have in our neck of the woods is Kruger National Park! Another picnic and a safari adventure to spot Africa’s beautiful animals!
And get the two cutest monkeys in the park an ice cream!
