Win…A Fabric Bead Necklace Kit From Whimrose!

If you’ve been following along, you’ve seen that I’ve been doing a Creative Christmas series over on Today’s Mama (currently in the series are Ornaments and Stocking Stuffers).  Besides finding lots of great crafts to make for Christmas, I’ve been able to meet some great crafters.  One of those is Kathy of Froogal.  Kathy is also the creative brains behind Whimrose Projects, (also on Etsy) that sells fabric, necklaces, fabric bead necklace kits, and wedding invitations.  Well, guess what?  Kathy has so generously offered a giveaway to you!  Read on for more details!

I asked Kathy how she got inspired to start selling fabric bead kits.  She said…

For as long as I can remember my hands have been busy making something. I have had many creative ventures most of which involve stitching, knitting and textiles.  I love ideas and I crave a challenge.  I am one of those (sometimes annoying) people that says “I can do that.”  Inspiration sits on my shoulder.  My ventures are not always successful but they always lead me to another creative idea.

I spotted The Liberty of London fabric bead necklace in a fashion magazine.  It was part of the Louis Vuitton Spring Collection for 2007 retailing for $600.  The necklace appealed to me on so many levels.  I am a quilter and love mixing prints.  Liberty of London prints were already in my fabric stash.  A quick trip to the craft store where I purchased a bag of wood beads and a spool of ribbon and I was in business.

The blog post where I introduced this necklace is the single most commented post on my blog that I have written even now 3 years later.  Liberty of London fabric is expensive and not easy to find and because it takes only a small 2X3.5 inch piece to make a bead it would be a big investment to put together 11 different prints for one necklace.  I mentioned that I might offer kits for sale in my etsy shop in one of my posts.  When I got a positive response I decided to give it a go.  The kit is now my best selling item, second only to the actual necklace that I also sell to those less crafty customers.

I must say, Liberty of London has been good to me!

Kathy’s Blog, Froogal, is about…

froogal blog

My blog is about creative inspiration and projects. I write about my personal learning experience, it may involve teaching myself a new technique like needlepoint or canning tomatoes, piecing a quilt, combining 2 patterns to personalize a sweater I am knitting, or researching an antique with an interesting history.  It is my personal scrapbook of inspiration, ideas and information. Froogal brings together all of my passions, the things that define me and bring quality to my journey through life.  My hope is to inspire others along the way.
