I love how God’s kingdom is upside down compared to the rest of the world.
When it comes to money, I often find there’s a battle going on between my hand being opened vs. being closed. The greatest sacrifice is always when you know you need to give but there’s just not much to spare, but with the greatest sacrifice comes the greatest reward. There’s no formula that says, “If I give money, I will be blessed with money in return.”
That’s what is so beautiful with the widow who gave her copper coins. With a pure heart, she gave. Perhaps it was her last bit of dignity. Perhaps she was risking not having enough money to purchase her next meal. For her, it didn’t matter. It was the joy of being obedient. It’s not about the amount, it’s about obedience.
