new york city

When we made the decision to drive up to Connecticut, I said to Jeremy that it would be so fun if we could go into New York City. Emma G had never been, and Joshua was too little to remember. We made it happen, and the kids loved it. I made a whole schedule for the day, and I think we didn’t even get to half of it. Always seems to happen when you spend a day in the city.

Grand Central.

After getting off the train at the beautiful Grand Central Station, we ventured to Central Park for a sack lunch. The walk almost did Emma G in, and I thought we were in trouble. Her spirits lifted once we hit the toy stores.

It was those toy stores that stalled everything else. FAO Schwartz was pretty cool. The kids loved the candy section. We also checked out Toys R Us in Times Square and all rode the Ferris Wheel. Fun times, fun times.

We spent a lot of time in Times Square. I bet Times Square would look so weird at night if the electricity was out. That was my random thought as we made our way back to the train station at 11:00 at night.

Maybe next time we’ll tour the Federal Reserve Bank where a quarter of the world’s gold is stored. And maybe next time we’ll drop by Theodore Roosevelt’s birthplace. There’s just SO much to do in the city that never sleeps!

PS: Tomorrow is the Color Your World challenge. Be sure to link up your red, white, and blue in honor of Independence Day!
