This lady thought it was hilarious that I was taking a photo of her pumping water. What was just a daily chore to her was a foreign concept to me. Water is such a precious commodity that is so easily taken for granted. I can’t imagine having to pump it daily and then carry it home on my head. Can you?

I went to Uganda to capture the stories through photography of what God is doing there through Adonai Partners.

August 28, 2012 at 6:10 amIf followed your journey with some interesst for a while now. I remember having to pump water at my grandparents, they only had running water in the house, but would use an old well to water the livestock (not much just a bit of this and a bit of that) – the neighbours who had a lot of cattle would walk them two times a day to the village well to drink there – but that all changed some years back.

August 28, 2012 at 12:25 pmWhen I lived in Bolivia kids used to come to our house begging for water. There wasn't a public place for them to get water. Tiny kids dragging heavy water containers just like the ones in your picture. Heartbreaking – all the more because houses around ours turned them down.

August 28, 2012 at 1:31 pmThese are great pictures. I can't even imagine the normal tasks these women do each day that I wouldn't even think about having to do just in order to have water and be able to do things around their home.
