I try not to be reactionary, but this post is, in fact, a response to recent events. Writing them here is a way for me to process certain things. Monday night (or rather the wee hours of Tuesday morning) one of our ministry vehicles was stolen. Unfortunately theft happens a lot in this nation of S. Africa, but this one happened right outside my back door while my husband was away, and I think I heard the car alarm go off.
Was I paralyzed by fear?
Did I think I was dreaming?
Could I have done something to stop the theft?
By not getting up, was God actually protecting me?
These are the thoughts going through my head. In the midst of the noise, though, Romans 8:28 is ringing loud and clear.
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
And then I start thinking that my God is bigger and better than dwelling on my frustration of the situation and that perhaps good will come from the thefts we’ve been having lately (the tool room was raided recently and every power tool was taken). I’m choosing to stand on His hope, peace, and promises today. It’s just not always easy.

September 25, 2013 at 9:24 amYikes! I'm glad you and the kids are safe. I don't think I would intervene if I saw someone trying to steal a car, even my car. I'd call the police, but I don't think I'd walk up to them or anything. Certainly not during the night while my husband was away!! I don't even go talk to the neighbours about their loud partying if Ben is gone.

September 26, 2013 at 1:05 am🙁 I am so, so sorry to hear that. I've been a victim of theft a few times (never of that magnitude) and it hurts. It really does feel like a violation and it's not just about the stuff, but you have the right attitude. Keep your eyes and thoughts on Him. My prayers are with you.

Just always think on the bright side.
