merry christmas eve eve

Well, it’s the eve before Christmas Eve. I spent the weekend baking and getting ready for our Christmas Eve party tomorrow night. I really love all the preparations (and all the food…smile).

This is my only post this week but I wanted to be sure and highlight a few things that you might find useful.

1. Take the time to enjoy the season. In the middle of your baking extravaganza, when your sweet girl comes out with a plate full of cookies, stop and cherish this moment of pretend play and the fact that she wants to be just.like.you.

It's a baking extravaganza over here. Some cookies are edible; some are not. All are made with a heart of love.

2. In that vain, remember that sometimes you have to let some things go so that you don’t go insane. I highly value handmade gifts (see my Tommy Nelson post this month for more on this!), but there’s not a single handmade item under the tree. There was just no time for that this year. As I was wrapping gifts, I remembered the year, while we were living in Texas, that I sewed reusable gift wrap. That gift wrap is locked in a storage unit. I so wanted to make some for this year, but I lovingly reminded myself that ain’t nobody got time for that this year.

3. If any of you are flying over the holidays, I’ve got you covered, or rather Joshua has you covered. He made a very thorough airport/airplane guide for our African students that recently got on an airplane for the first time. I’m telling you. If you follow this, you should be set. I keep asking myself where he got such detail? 🙂

For our African DTS students who had never flown before, Joshua made an airport/airplane guide to help them on their flight to Uganda. Where in the world does he get such detail?

Merry Christmas, friends!
