In 2009, when Jeremy and I flew to Uganda to visit our discipleship school that we had there working with Orphans Know More (OKM), we only got to visit with one family in the OKM network, Esther’s family. We spent all day there working in the garden, painting faces, talking, and just building relationship. Imagine my surprise when, on my trip in November, we pulled up to Esther’s house!
Even though four years had passed, I still couldn’t believe how BIG the garden was! Hard work has paid off. There’s also an assortment of pigs, goats, and chickens running around with neighbor children that seem to gather at Esther’s house.
It’s not often that I get to travel to another place and see what God’s done over a span of time. As we sat and talked with Esther and her sister, it was awesome to hear that the dreams of those kids are still alive in their hearts. I pray that doctors, teachers, accountants, and nurses emerge from those walls. After all, dreams do come true.
