Family Kids Thoughts

trusting god

Faith

Trusting God is not always easy, and sometimes it’s hard to remember, in the midst of difficult moments, to include our kids in the process. I’ll never forget when we invited our kids into trusting God for a vehicle. The prayers got kind of crazy, but it was such a privilege to include them in it. I know we all came out richer having walked through it together. Read all about our experience of trusting God for big things as a family over at Tommy Nelson!

    You asked about trusting God as a family for something big. One year ago as our whole family was preparing to enter the Catholic Church, the priest who would be officiating requested, just a few days before the scheduled baptism, that all four of my children be dressed in white. While I understood the symbolism of purity, I had no idea where to buy completely white outfits for 7-, 6-, 4-, and 2-year-olds for an amount I could afford in only a few days. I sent a message to the Catholic homeschooling group that I had just joined, asking where to shop for these items. Within 24 hours, six kind people had generously loaned all the various items we needed! Everyone in the group was just amazed at how it all worked out, and of course the kids looked amazing on the day, all in white.

    A smaller trust thing I like to practice is praying out loud in the car for a car parking space. Sometimes they can be so hard to find here. The kids and I get very excited when we see God answering even those small prayers!

    {I tried to submit this on the Tommy Nelson site, but it didn't appear so I put it here.}

    We don't have a designated parking spot where we live, and I do feel like God often provides a nice close one on days when thing are otherwise not going well. It's a small thing that adds up over time.
