Wow! What an amazing, busy, crazy week! I feel like so much happened this week so I just wanted to give the brief highlights. I’m still weary from it, but excited for the things God has done.
I started the week welcoming the DTS students by hosting a braai (for non-South Africans, that’s a BBQ!) Then we began an amazing week of teachings, creative expression projects, visiting the communities and just getting to know one another. What strikes me about this DTS is how active they are in class discussions. It helps us to know they are tracking and really processing what they are hearing. I know we will have bumps along the road but I’m expecting God to do great things! Next week, I’m going to try and post some of my thoughts from the teachings I did this week. Here are our staff and students (2 more students arrive in a couple of weeks.)
Joshua got his haircut! Jeremy must have cut at least 3 inches off! We had fun giving him silly looks and taking photos! Here is my little ham getting a new do!
The kids started school! I don’t know what is up with this picture I took of Joshua but this is his first day of school pic. Emma Grace was not thrilled about the idea of going back to school. Therefore, I had to just sneak a picture of her, “I’m not so sure about this” face. Joshua was delighted to get to sit next to his bestest bud from last year and had a great day at his new school! Emma Grace also did well. Better than last year according to her teacher. She even ate her lunch with the other kids. Score! (For those of you who don’t know, every day last year she refused to eat her lunch because they wouldn’t let her sit in the sandbox where she wanted to eat. She is one stubborn girl, but we talked about it last week and I encouraged her to eat where her teacher said she needed to eat. I was so pleased with the news that she did!)
One of our short-term teams left yesterday and another one tomorrow but not without first building a playground for the kids in Kabokweni! A special thanks to YWAM Worcester and New Hope Church from New York for their labor of love for these kids! As you can see, they are thoroughly enjoying every aspect of the new playground!
So in this week of role reversal and busy times, everyone is adjusting. Pray it continues to go smoothly and that I can still be the best mom, DTS leader, wife, friend, etc. Thanks for sharing this journey with me!
