Remember that Mother’s Day post about the hair band pattern in my head? Well, I finally got that pattern out of my head! If you try it and it doesn’t make sense, please write me! I call this the Sassy Frass Hair Band aptly named after my Lil Miss Sassy Frass!
It’s a simple garter stitch band knit on straight needles and fits most heads! It fit my 4 year old’s head and my adult head! It just ties in the back making it very simple with no seaming. Here’s the pattern (also found in downloadable pdf format on my sidebar):
Worsted, medium, or double knit yarn, in two colors
Instructions:
With first color, CO 40 sts.
Rows 1-3: Knit every row
Row 4: Join second color and knit entire row
Row 5: Knit
Rows 6 & 7: At beg of row, CO 40 sts., then knit those 40 sts. and knit rest of row.
Rows 8 & 9: Knit entire row
Row 10: Join first color and knit entire row
Rows 11 & 12: Knit
Cast off
Weave in ends

June 12, 2013 at 10:39 pmcould you explain rows 6&7? Not sure what you mean by CO40 sts than CO those 40 and knit rest of row. I'm a new knitter and some of the epressions in the patterns tend to be confusing.
Lovely hair band, thank you.

June 15, 2013 at 7:26 am@tomuchpainwithnogain, Thanks for pointing that out! There was an error. At the beginning of each row, cast on 40, then knit those 40 stitches along with the rest of the row. Hope that's helpful!
