Bible Study :: Times Of Rest

This has been my topic of study lately. I think we all agree that resting is biblical. After all, after God created the world, He rested. Most of us regard Sunday as a sabbath, a day of rest. But is that where it stops? Just one day a week for a sabbath?

There’s been two passages of scripture that I’ve been studying lately. The first…Leviticus 25. This passage talks about the year of jubilee. After six years, taking the seventh for a sabbath. Now this is talking about land as well as taking a sabbath for yourself of sowing the land. And God says that in the sixth year, the crop will be so plentiful that it will last for 3 years. “Then the land will yield its produce, so that you can eat your fill and live securely on it.”

Let’s go over to Hebrews 4, titled in my Bible as The Believer’s Rest. Verse 9…“So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God. For the one who has entered His rest has himself also rested from his works, as God did from His.” He goes on to say that we must be diligent to enter His rest.

The past several months these passages have stood out to me, almost like a blinking light saying, “Read Me!” After the holidays, read more about what God is doing through this…
