As I grew older and left the 80’s decade, I swore I would never look back. I would never wear those styles again. I mean, really, why would I want to? Tight rolled jeans, crimped hair, jeans tucked into the socks, and leg warmers! But like every era, it seems to return no matter how much we rebel against it. I swear skinny jeans are an influence of the 80’s. I can’t bring myself to wear them, but when I recently saw a picture of some leg warmers, well, I caved and re-entered.
I guess sometimes all it takes is a spark to peak your interest. That spark came when I won Knitting A Kiss In Every Stitch. As I flipped through the pages and actually saw a pair of leg warmers on someone looking quite cute, I earmarked it knowing I just had to make some for myself.
I chose some Kathmandu aran tweed. I love it! It’s so soft and came in just the colors I wanted. I used 3 skiens of it, but cast on 10 less stitches. I do have short legs, after all. Either I planned it just right or I just got lucky, because this is all I had left! (I think I just got lucky!)
So beware of rebelling against fashion trends. You never know when they might creep back in and back their way back into your closet!
Oh, and these were my attempt at taking photos of myself. Without a tripod (because I left it in SA, don’t know why). Trying to get the settings right. It’s hard to do!
