The Boy Who Changed The World by Andy Andrews

the boy who changed the world

This is such a sweet book!  Not only is it about a boy who changed the world but about four boys who changed the world.  Four boys whose lives just happen to intertwine at some point in their lives.  Essentially, it’s about the butterfly effect.  One decision, good or bad, big or little, can change the world.  Everything we do matters.  This is a point we’ve been trying to drive home with our kids which is what intrigued me to get this book.

I read it to my 5 year old daughter and she loved it.  She loved the pictures.  I was worried about her being able to keep up with all the characters, but I do believe she kept up with them just fine.  When I finished reading it, she exclaimed, “I want to go change the world!”  We talked about different things that can change the world and that ultimately it’s about obeying God and following Him.  A book that invokes that kind of discussion is an A+ in my opinion.

I also had Joshua read it for his 20 minute homework reading.  It was just perfect for his 3rd grade reading level.  He was fascinated with the illustrations in the book and felt motivated to go and change the world!  I think it encouraged him that he can have an idea and make an impact!  I hope he will never lose that spirit of feeling like he can change the world!
