Weekend Sewing

Yes, that’s the name of a book but, no, that’s not what this post is about. Saturday I found myself between knitting projects.  Instead of starting the next one, I decided to do a little sewing.  A friend recently gave me some brand new size 14 girl’s dresses to make something out of.  While researching for my Gifting post over at Today’s Mama, I came across a tutorial for making pajamas.  Since these were fresh on my mind, I decided to make that my first project!

It took me most of the afternoon to finish the pants.  (My poor family…they really bear with me through all my projects!)  I tried to make a shirt but my measurements must have been off because it was too tight!  Oh, well.  While Miss Emma would probably love to have a shirt, she is thrilled to have a new pair of pajama pants!  She loves to be cozy and comfy!

The next day I was very much eyeing the sleeves that I didn’t use, and thought, “Legwarmers!”  I decided to knit the cuff and sew them to the sleeves.  Emma G chose the yarn from my stash, and I did a k1p1 rib for 2 inches.  I was very pleased with the results.  Miss Emma loves to accessorize so these are perfect for her.

Of course, it wouldn’t be her if she didn’t wear them just a little bit differently!

I still have 6 more dresses to transform, but now I think I need a sewing break.  Back to a craft I’m a little better and faster at…knitting!
