christmas handmades :: toys

The thing I love about knitting toys is you don’t have to worry about gauge or fret over whether they will actually fit or not.  And doesn’t a shelf of knitted toys just look so lovely?  I added to Emma G’s knitted toy collection this Christmas by knitting her a pink hippo!  Every time my copy of Itty Bitty Toys found itself hanging around, she would flip right to that hippo and talk about how much she wanted it!

The kind ladies at Woolie Ewe suggested See Jayne Knit 100% Wool Araucania.  I love the slight color changes that happen as you go, and I think Emma G is quite pleased with the results, too!

I made Joshua a striped hacky sack using the Oh, Balls! pattern I’ve used before.  I just made it a little bit longer than the original pattern and stuffed it with lentils before closing it up!  This project was made using scraps I had lying around.

One more Christmas knitting post coming up tomorrow!  See you then!
