Crafts creativity Kids

teacher appreciation week

This week has been Teacher Appreciation Week.  There’s two things I love about this…1. It gives teachers a chance to be thanked for the hard work they do in educating our kids, and 2. It gives me a chance to do one of the things that I love which is craft and make things with my hands!  I really wanted the kids to give gifts from their hearts and not a half hearted, “My mom made this for you.”  They suggested, I suggested, and we settled on things that we were all happy with.  Every day this week they’ve brought their teacher something special.  They’ve ranged from a painted rock and a handmade necklace (of which I didn’t get a photo but it was lovely with her teacher’s name on it)…

To my personal favorite…cinnamon buns in a jar.  I got the idea here.  Since I already had jars with a section of chalkboard paint on them, it was an easy project.  The kids wrote a special note to their teacher.  Joshua said, “Best teacher I ever had,” and Emma G said, “You are great.  You rock.”  I baked my favorite cinnamon roll recipe and stuck lollipop sticks in them.  Cute and oh, so easy!

Then we went with flowers in an Izze bottle and an Izze drink.  The kids love Izze drinks so that was the significance there.

And finally to snickerdoodles!  Miss Emma helped me with the cookies while Joshua was happy just to taste test. 🙂
