There were two anniversaries this past Sunday, the 11th…the tenth anniversary of 9-11 and my 12th wedding anniversary. It’s always a little strange to be celebrating on that day, but over the years, I’ve gained some perspective on it. The other morning I was pondering the difference between remembering and mourning. There is definitely a time to mourn, but if we stay in the state, won’t we exude a melancholy posture like all the time? I think
remembering offers a freedom. We will never forget the lives that were lost and those who risked their lives and fought for our country. We need to remember them. In remembering, shouldn’t we also
celebrate life? After all, the reason we mourn is because lives, valuable lives, were lost in the first place. And so, every September 11th, I pause to
remember those whose valuable lives were tragically ended and I
celebrate the amazing gift that God gave me through my husband, whom I love with all my heart.
This year we chose to celebrate by booking a room at the Fairmont in the Dallas Arts District (thanks to air miles). We had such a great time! The hotel was beautiful. I was struck with the hallways and their white wallpapered walls and salmon colored doors that I just had to do a little photo shoot. We had a little too much fun with ourselves! I sort of felt like Where’s Waldo, blending in with my dress.
A trolley ride down McKinney Ave. and we arrived at our restaurant of choice, Sambuca. I have to say that my filet was melt in your mouth amazing. I think it was the gorgonzola butter sauce on top. 🙂
I took so many photos on this anniversary, so I’ll share more later on our fun time in the big D!
