Did you know that three months of traveling and living out of a suitcase can upset your routine? Try it sometime, and you’ll see that it most certainly does. My kids bedtime, school schedule, chore duties, everything was altered quite a bit for the sake of traveling together as a family. We did school when we could but took advantage of local museums for lots of hands on learning.
Today we ease back into our school routine. I say ease, because I know everyone will need a little grace for getting back on track. I’m excited for some new things I have planned for the rest of this school year. My kids don’t quite share my enthusiasm…yet.
I am thrilled to be back in S. Africa. It is a bit of a shock to the system to go from Winter in the Northern Hemisphere to Summer in the Southern. Joshua decided before we left the states that he was going to grow his hair out. That quickly changed since we arrived. I can’t say I blame him.
We are pretty much settled back in. I had all eight bags unpacked by day two of being back. You can say I was ready to settle and get everything in its place. It helps me think a bit more clearly. Anyone else like that?

January 14, 2013 at 3:24 pmGlad you're back safely. There's nothing like getting back home and into a routine after months of travel. On the plus side, I'm sure that your kids are really well adjusted to it all and that should serve them well when they're all grown up

January 14, 2013 at 11:24 pmI love being settled in, as quickly as possible. I've done the long-term living out of suitcases thing, and it is not fun! Glad you are back home and settling in again.
