in the studio :: artist zeldah

Welcome to In The Studio, a place to show off your studio and meet some great artists! This month I’ve been featuring our artists from The Village Store. The features continue today with our jewelry extraordinaire.

Everyone, meet Zeldah. I’ve known Zeldah for 4 years when she took the job of childcare during our discipleship school. Zeldah still works at University Village helping us in the hospitality department. Last year, she learned to make paper beads. I was first introduced to paper beads when I went to Uganda in 2009. It’s fascinating, really.

Zeldah loves making jewelry and has dreams for her future. I love how that happens. You learn to do something, and realize you have a passion for it. Then, you start to dream about what you could do with it. That’s what Zeldah has done. Her dreams include a jewelry business and learning more about design. She also has a desire to learn to sew and has started saving money for a sewing machine. She wants to teach other women how to make jewelry so that they can have an income.

Beautiful, isn’t it? There’s upcoming classes on the horizon at University Village, and it makes me so excited. For Zeldah and others that have a desire to learn a craft. Earning an income from doing something that you love really boosts your self-worth, doesn’t it?

Now it’s your turn! Remember your “studio” can be anywhere. Let’s celebrate each other’s creativity by linking up and visiting as many as the other studios as you can. Check out the about post for more info and don’t forget to grab the In The Studio button!

How beautiful! Do you market these featured artists' work anywhere other than your village store? I would buy some of these things online if I could!
