Welcome to In The Studio, a place to show off your studio and meet some great artists! Last month I featured artists from our Village Store. While I have more artists to feature, I thought I would start this month by showing you a little of what I’ve been working on personally.
So what have I been doing creatively? I did a photo shoot last weekend to feature Warby Parker’s new Ocean Avenue line. So fun. I realized that I need to be doing more photo shoots. It’s a busy season which means I have to make time for it. Easier said than done, but it so gives me life.
I’ve also been deep in a bedroom makeover. It’s coming along but these makeover projects sometimes take time, don’t they? Especially when you’re doing the work yourself. I hope to reveal the entire project in due time. Today let’s start with some bed candy.
I decided I wanted to make my bed something that looked inviting to crawl into. Is anyone else like that or am I just weird? I started with a bed skirt. Honestly, I was tired at looking at the dirty box spring peeking out from under the quilt. It was an eyesore and needed some attention. I decided to make a skirt rather than buy one. I knew I wanted a dark gray, but I also knew that sometimes you have to be flexible with these things. Well, I found a dark gray material that I love! I’m not good with writing patterns, so I couldn’t really tell you exactly how I sewed this bad boy. I had the idea in my head and I’m glad it turned out the way I wanted it to. I’m even more glad that you can’t see the nasty box spring!
My focus after that was the pillows. Besides the green butterfly material, everything else I had on hand. I did the same basic pillowcase pattern that I’ve used in the past. I love how easy and fast it is. And I love how it makes my bed look. Inviting!

Now it’s your turn! Remember your “studio” can be anywhere. Let’s celebrate each other’s creativity by linking up and visiting as many as the other studios as you can. Check out the about post for more info and don’t forget to grab the In The Studio button!

June 7, 2013 at 4:30 pmIt's lovely to find the time to do the things you love to do isn't it? Especially if that something is creative.

June 9, 2013 at 2:56 amYour bedroom is looking great! I know what you mean about it looking inviting. That has been my goal with my guest bed, but it should be my goal for MY bed, too!

June 10, 2013 at 3:48 pmoh man, love the colors! And the fact that you just made the bed skirt work, that's how I do things too! 🙂 Sigh, one of these weeks I'll link up.. summer and camp and busyness is getting in the way currently! Still enjoy looking through the creativity though!
