Welcome to In The Studio, a place to show off your studio and meet some great artists! Do you ever have those weeks when your creativity level is just low? I’m sure you do. I think between feeling under the weather this week and then hearing of Jeremy’s grandmother passing followed by a sudden trip to the states, I was just feeling blah and creativity has been the last thing on my mind. So, in all honesty, I might be stretching it a bit this week, but who says a good recipe isn’t being creative?
Perhaps it was seeing the names of the colors of Warby Parker’s new Ocean Avenue collection that inspired me, but I decided to try my hand at making homemade cream soda. I tested it out at a sleepover at our house with a lot of kids, and it was an instant hit.
Homemade Cream Soda
1. Dissolve 2 cups of sugar into 1 cup of water in a pan on the stovetop. After the solution boils and the sugar is dissolved, take it off the heat and cool for 5 minutes.
2. Stir in 1 tablespoon of vanilla. This is your syrup! Put in the fridge and allow to cool.
3. Depending on how sweet you want it will depend on the syrup/carbonated water ratio. For the glasses in the photo, I did roughly 1/4 to 1/2 cup syrup and the rest carbonated water. Stir.
4. Add a scoop of ice cream and enjoy!
Recipe adapted from here.

Now it’s your turn! Remember your “studio” can be anywhere. Let’s celebrate each other’s creativity by linking up and visiting as many as the other studios as you can. Check out the about post for more info and don’t forget to grab the In The Studio button!

June 14, 2013 at 11:09 amYour cream soda recipe sounds delicious, and I strongly believe that cooking is a very creative activity. Have you ever watched the television show Chopped? The contestants are given baskets with 3 ingredients, of which one is at least odd, and the the contestants are to make either an appetizer, a main entry, or a dessert, depending on what round their in. I love it! Anyway, I included a recipe within my post too. Blessings!
