Welcome to In The Studio, a place to show off your studio and meet some great artists! So I have a question for all you creatives. Do you embrace the need to push yourself creatively into areas that you feel vulnerable? I find it’s easy to get comfortable with something you’ve worked at and practiced. It’s so hard to step out and do something that doesn’t come naturally to you, and as artists, it’s hard to put your work out there.
I stepped into some uncomfortable territory this week when I designed some postcards to sell in our Village Store here in S. Africa. I love working with photos but trying to put together graphics in Photoshop is much harder for me. I did it, though, and asked Jeremy a gazillion questions in the process. Do you think this looks good? What would you change? Do you think people would buy this? I didn’t ask if he was getting annoyed with me, but it’s safe to say that was a possibility.
I know I have a lot of learning to do, particularly with training my eye and then figuring out how to implement it, but I am pleased with the results this first go around. It’s a start, right?
Have you found yourself, lately, stepping out into some new, creative territory? I love the challenge even if it feels a little bit scary.
Now it’s your turn! Remember your “studio” can be anywhere. Let’s celebrate each other’s creativity by linking up and visiting as many as the other studios as you can. Check out the about post for more info and don’t forget to grab the In The Studio button!

July 20, 2013 at 6:16 pmThe postcards look great!! I've done a few things at work, but they're mostly using a template & moving things around. I haven't ventured out too much creatively, because I'm a scaredy cat. I have fabric in my craft closet that has been waiting for me to make it into a makeup bag for awhile now. I'm afraid I'll mess it up, so I haven't started. That's ridiculous, huh?
