We had a great Thanksgiving celebrating with our friends here in S. Africa. We prepared lots of the traditional foods and the weather was actually rainy and overcast, so it really felt like we were celebrating in the right season. I tried a new recipe, Pioneer Woman’s green bean casserole. Oh, my. It was fantastic. I’ll definitely make that one again.
We put the tree up yesterday. Whenever we’ve celebrated Christmas in the Southern Hemisphere, it always takes some adjusting. I like Christmas in Winter. Celebrating in Summer seems so foreign and almost not right. It’s what you’re used to it, isn’t it?
We did manage to sip hot chocolate in the midst of the humidity. My kids are so excited to have the tree up. They want the lights on 24/7 and Christmas music playing in the background. I love it. We have our countdown on, and no, I’m not a day behind. It was changed first thing this morning AFTER this photo was taken.
Our ornaments are sparse, but my favs are definitely the wire art ones that we sell in The Village Store (made by Kenneth). They are also available in our Ten Thousand Homes online store (shipping is only to the US).
Today only, on Cyber Monday, we have markdowns on all of our handmade items and free shipping with code FREESHIP!
Happy Monday, friends!

December 3, 2013 at 4:43 amYour family's Christmas tree looks gorgeous, but most importantly it looks like your children thoroughly enjoyed putting it up. I really like your advent calendar, which is reminiscent of their origin with the use of chalk. As to Kenneth's ornaments, they'r exquisite. Blessings, my friend!
