My son LOVES fantasy fiction. It’s not my genre of choice, but I do like to read the books that he’s poring through to get an idea of what he’s reading. Plus, it allows me to participate in conversations where he’s excitedly telling every.single.detail of the book. He has not read this book yet, so this is a Mama’s review of Dreamtreaders.
Dreamtreaders is the start of a brand new series written by the popular Wayne Thomas Batson. At the young age of 14, Archer Keaton is a dreamtreader. It’s a big responsibility seeing as there are only three dreamtreaders in the world. His mission is to stop the Nightmare Lord and defeat evil in the dreamworld. Things get serious when his fellow dreamtreaders go missing. It leaves Archer with some serious decisions to make.
I’m not a fantasy genre kind of gal, that is true, but preferences aside, this book was great. I raced through the last half pretty fast, because I wanted to see what happened! I love how the author posed moral dilemmas for Archer to ponder and showed how the right path isn’t always the easy path. This is a great fiction read for middle schoolers. I know my boy is going to love it, and I love that it teaches a good lesson about doing the right thing.
